While January felt like it was the month that would never end, February is speeding through like a runaway freight train, so before we get too much further along in 2025 I wanted to share the energies we are working with this year and give you some ideas on how to best leverage them.
This year is a unique blend of energies, combining the numerological significance of a 9 Universal Year and the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Snake. Together, these forces create a sacred space for completion, transformation, and deep inner wisdom.
The invitation is to complete, transform, and prepare new objectives that align with our highest purpose.
The Sacred Energy of the 9 Universal Year
In numerology, every year carries a specific vibration, and 2025 is a 9 Universal Year (2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 9). The number 9 is the final single-digit number, symbolizing the end of a cycle.
2025 is a year of completion, release, and preparation for new beginnings. Think of it as saying, “It’s time to close this chapter and plant the seeds for the next.”
This is what a 9 Year invites us to do:
- Complete What You’ve Started: Time to tie up loose ends, finish projects, and honor the journey you’ve been on for the past nine years.
- Release What No Longer Serves You: Let go of old habits, relationships, and beliefs that are holding you back. Trust that this release will create space for something better.
- Serve with an Open Heart: The energy of 9 is deeply humanitarian. It calls us to give back, to be of service, and to act from a place of compassion.
- Connect with Your Spirit: This is a powerful time for spiritual growth. Dive deep into practices like meditation, journaling, or energy work to connect with your higher self.
While the 9 is providing these energies, the wood snake amplifies what’s happening this year.
The Wisdom of the Year of the Snake
In Chinese astrology, on January 29, 2025 the Year of the Wood Snake began.
The Snake is a symbol of wisdom, intuition, and transformation. Its energy is subtle, mysterious, and deeply intuitive.
The Wood element adds a layer of creativity, growth, and adaptability, making this a year of both inner and outer transformation.
The Year of the Snake invites you to:
- Trust Your Intuition: The Snake is a master of subtle energy. This year, your inner voice will be your greatest guide. Pay attention to your gut feelings and the signs around you.
- Embrace Change with Grace: Just as a snake sheds its skin, this year invites you to release old patterns and step into a new version of yourself.
- Plan Strategically: The Snake is a thoughtful and deliberate creature. This is not a year for impulsive decisions but for careful planning and intentional action.
- Tap into Creativity: The Wood element encourages innovation and resourcefulness. Let your creative energy flow freely, whether through art, writing, or problem-solving.
What This Means for You
The layering of these energies with what’s happening in the world today: global political change; the next technology wave; increasing weather intensity, etc. means that this completion year coupled with the transformative snake energy may be more powerful and intense than any of the 9 years in previous decades.
My sense is 2025 could mark the end of our lives as we have known them. I understand that may sound dire, and maybe even scary. It’s not meant to. When we are expecting big and radical changes, we can prepare ourselves to be in a state of preparation or adaptation.
For example, we can make a to go bag in case a weather event causes us to need to leave our house. We can stock up on batteries, candles and matches if we live in an area that tends to lose power during storms. We can set-up a family meeting place in case cell service becomes unavailable. Or we can soften our mindset to be more open and more curious to what’s going on around us.
2025 isn’t the time to go along with our day-to-day hoping things will not change, and then be shocked when they do, because they have already started shifting.
Most completion years bring with them some unexpected completions, such as job loses or the endings of relationships. This year, we are already seeing the ending of entire organizations and systems that are resulting in layoffs and jobs becoming obsolete. My sense is there’s many more completions to come for all of us this year.
Our opportunity is to recognize that all endings lead to new beginnings. The vibration of our energy will contribute to what is birthed from the completions. If we fear and resist the endings, we aren’t in the expansive energy of creation. It’s a year to lean into what we want to see and co-create the world we want to live in.
Thoughts DO become things. Align your thoughts, feelings and actions in the direction of the future you want.
That’s not to say that some things will happen this year you do not like, or want to be a part of. For example, I personally could’ve gone without the Covid lockdown years. However, it’s in these moments where we move into our spiritual viewpoint and ask: how is this happening for me? versus why is this happening to me?
2025 is going to be a breakthrough year for many with mass awakenings, and radical life changes. For some though, it’s going to be a rough year of trying to hang onto the past and resist transformation. You get to choose which it will be for you.
I invite you to go within and ask what’s going to most serve your soul and do that.
How to Align with the Energies of 2025
Now that you know the energies at play, here’s how you can organize your year to align with them combining practical steps and soulful practices to help you thrive in 2025. Yes, I meant for that to rhyme. 🙂
Phase 1: Reflect and Release (January – March)
The first quarter of the year is all about reflection and release. This is your time to look back on the past nine years, honor your journey, and let go of what no longer serves you.
- Journaling Prompts: Spend time journaling about your experiences over the past nine years. What have you learned? What are you ready to release?
- Declutter Your Space: Clear out physical clutter to create space for new energy. Donate items you no longer need and organize your living space.
- Rituals of Release: Write down what you want to let go of on a piece of paper and burn it (safely) as a symbolic act of release.
Phase 2: Serve and Connect (April – June)
The middle of the year is a time to focus on service and connection. The 9 Year’s humanitarian energy encourages us to give back and connect with others in meaningful ways.
- Volunteer Your Time: Find a cause that resonates with you and offer your time or skills. Even small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
- Practice Gratitude: Start a daily gratitude practice to cultivate a mindset of abundance and appreciation.
- Heal Relationships: Use the Snake’s intuitive energy to navigate conflicts and heal broken relationships. Approach others with compassion and understanding.
Phase 3: Transform and Grow (July – September)
As we move into the second half of the year, the Snake’s transformative energy becomes more pronounced. This is your time to embrace change and focus on personal growth.
- Set Intentional Goals: What do you want to achieve in the second half of the year? Set clear, actionable goals and create a plan to achieve them.
- Explore Your Creativity: Take up a new hobby, start a passion project, or find ways to express yourself creatively.
- Trust Your Intuition: The Snake’s energy is all about inner wisdom. Trust your gut feelings and let them guide your decisions.
Phase 4: Prepare for New Beginnings (October – December)
As the year comes to a close, the 9 Year’s energy of completion will be at its peak. Use this time to prepare for the new cycle that begins in 2026.
- Review Your Year: Reflect on what you’ve accomplished and what still needs to be done. Tie up any loose ends.
- Plan for the Future: What do you want to manifest in the next cycle? Start setting intentions and laying the groundwork now.
- Celebrate Your Wins: Take time to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements. Gratitude and celebration are key to closing the year on a high note.
Lastly, choose that which brings you closer to the Divine; trust the guidance from your higher self; and remember that no matter what happens you’ve got this!
